Roundu Valley the entryway to Baltistan while heading from Pakistan. While, we go by road from Islamabad or Gilgit Roundu is the first district on the road to Baltistan. So, this is the major travel and commercial route of Baltistan. Roundu is also known as Rangyal in the Balti language. Formerly Roundu was sub-division and part of Skardu District.
In April 2019 Government of Gilgit-Baltistan elevated Roundu as a distinct District. Dambudas is the headquarter of this District. It is nearly 70 kilometers distant from Skardu, Capital of Baltistan.
Mostly residents of this valley like neighboring valleys speak the Balti language. But at some higher altitudes and places near Gilgit, significant speak Shina as well. So, We may state that it appears like roughly 70 percent speak Balti and 30 percent speak Shina language. Most remarkable, the literacy rate of this District is about 90 percent .
Roundu valley is abundant with high altitude meadows, lush green plains, mountains and even more streams of fresh ice-cold water. Certainly, this valley is quite famous for its Grapes in Baltistan Region. Different varieties of Grapes are prevalent in this valley. Mostly farming in the profession of individuals. The folks are very much hard-working.

Bashoo Valley
The valley is flanked by towering mountains on three sides. Which is also home to deer, markhor, ibex and snow leopard. This location is distinguished throughout the entire region owing to the enormous woods and gorgeous vistas. The only Eco adventures site in the Baltistan area. The scenic and devastated valley of Baltistan, Bashu Valley, is a sight to see.
Bilamik Valley
Bilamik means “Cat’s eye” in the Balti language. This valley has so much beauty and numerous eye-catching sceneries are all around. That’s the explanation for the name I think. The lovely meadows and natural Forest of this valley are quite noteworthy. There is also a hiking point which goes to Astore valley. This walk is about a day long.
Stak Valley
Stak valley is also known as Stak Nala. The population and size of this valley are greatest in the Roundu District. This valley in the midway of Gilgit and Skardu. There are numerous glaciers in this valley namely Haramosh, Khutia and Goropi glacier. That’ s the reason that a river from Stak Nala falls into the Indus river. Stak valley is an important rest spot on the Karakoram route.
Tormik Valley
Tormik valley another gorgeous valley of Roundu District. This is the second biggest valley after Stak Valley. Postures, meadows, and woodlands are the main and sources of the beauty of this valley. A celebration of this Valley is extremely famous in this region. This is known as Dunsa Festival. People enjoy numerous forms of activities and music at this event. Freestyle Polo of this festival is of great enjoyment. Local folks organise this celebration. People reside here exclusively in the summer. Because of significant snowfall, it’s quite difficult to stay there in the winter season.
